28 December 2009 4 Comments

As 2009 is about to end , I decided to write an article about all those things in Tech-World which made news in this year.

Apple iPod Nano with 5 MP camera

For a long time there was some thing missing in those iPods . You may ask what was it ? Well it was a camera, The new Apple iPod nano now comes with a 5MP camera and a bigger screen too. And more over features like FM and delayed FM with recording are sure a treat.

Netbooks

Laptops used to be the only option for mobile rather on the go computing , and it was not very affordable option , Though they provided all features. It didnt make any sense buying a laptop for those people who primarily use it for net, And the trend was smaller the lpatop more expensive it wouldbe.

All that changed duting this year with the coinin of new word ‘ Netbooks ‘ Especially made for internet surfing and so is he name given, Intel Atom processor enabled them to be much smaller, lighter as well as afordable.

Android

The open source OS from Googles stable was all in the news in this year. It started of at the beginging of the year and now its in almost every sector of gadgets , be it laptops , mobiles , nettops or anything, must say it gave the tough competition for symbian as well as windows mobile in mobile market.

And gave an platform for all the application developers out there for developing applications for the same.

E-Readers

Bleeding-edge curiosity. Geek status symbol. Mainstream crowd pleaser. From digital cameras to MP3 players, that’s the path every major new category of gadget has followed. And the e-book reader is headed down the same road.

Many tech experts consider this holiday season the year of the e-book reader.

Started of with Amazon Kindle and its unstoppable now, Surely it was one of the news makers of 2009

Social networking boom with Facebook and Twitter

Social networking was arguably the most influential technology of 2009  around the world, largely because it’s not just for teenagers and college kids anymore. Especially Facbook and Twitter

Social networking sites have had a massive impact on the way people use the Internet and they’ve become the primary mode of messaging for some.

2009 can be defined as the year that social networking truly hit mass awareness on a mainstream level, particularly for Twitter, which has been around since 2006 but just became a household name this year.

Windows 7

Given its recent track record, the fact that Microsoft released a new version of Windows 7 and that too, on time tops this year’s look back .

Vista was the much hyped and awaited Windows with all the eye candy effects, but the fact was it was a resource guzzler , One needed lots of hardware to un this OS , So to come over this MS launched windows 7 which was low on resource and better on performance , This enabled the small netbooks to carry this OS in them.

Well my own personal opinion is that Windows & was nothing but the much awaited and much expensive ‘ Service Pack ‘ for windows Vista.

But yes indeed it made a lot of buzz in this year.
